Coming Together for Excellence in Entrepreneurship Education

Calling all entrepreneurship educators!

If you have always wanted to meet fellow entrepreneurship educators as well as industry leaders in various fields from all over the country so you can share ideas and skills to improve your curriculum, then this is your chance. Come join Entrepreneurship Educators’ Association of the Philippines, Inc. (ENEDA).

ENEDA is a non-stock, non-profit professional organization composed of the nation’s leading colleges, entrepreneurship educators and entrepreneurs. It seeks to promote excellence in entrepreneurship education in the country. It recognizes the need for entrepreneurship educators and entrepreneurs from all over the country to come together and share ideas to raise the level of academic standards.

“As a professional organization registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission and recognized by the Commission on Higher Education, we are committed to assist our members composed of academic institutions and educators towards efficient and effective teaching,” says Maria Luisa B. Gatchalian, NCR president. “Members will learn relevant skills and knowledge through seminars, conferences, and workshops. The general assembly which was concluded last September 1 2007 at Miriam College saw the birth of the ENEDA NCR Chapter. It will be one of the many ENEDA chapters that will be created in order to make good with the urgent call to educate and create a culture of entrepreneurship in order to generate employment and wealth in its proper sense.

“With the state of our economy is in now, more than ever, we need entrepreneurs, not just employees, to create jobs and opportunities. Even the government recognizes this with its thrust towards entrepreneurship. And this is where ENEDA helps. Together, we can professionalize entrepreneurship education,” adds Gatchalian.

The conference aims to enhance the role of education in creating a more entrepreneurial culture in the Philippine society, stimulating young people’s awareness of entrepreneurship as options for their future, and help them to be more creative and self-confident in whatever they undertake.

About the President

As the president of ENEDA NCR, Ms. Maria Luisa B. Gatchalian brings to the organization 30 years of experience in entrepreneurial education, training, research, consultancy, and teaching.

Ms. Gatchalian has a background in business education from the Philippine Women’s University (1974); clothing technology from the University of the Philippines (1986); and an MA in Education with specialization in Values Education from the University of Asia and the Pacific (1998). She has also taken up selected MBA courses at De La Salle University and post-graduate courses in industrial management at the Research Instituut Ver Maastricht School of Management in the Netherlands.

Early in her career, she was part of University of the Philippines – Institute for Small Scale Industries which deals with small industry development in the various area of research, consultancy, training, advocacy, and information dissemination. She later found her calling as a college professor at Miriam College, one of the country’s premier and exclusive women learning institutions, where she teaches business, entrepreneurship and communication subjects.
